Large, comfortable rooms in a rustic country setting. Nothing fancy but nice. For stars fit the lodge, but at least six stars for the Devil's Backbone Grill, the only true farm to table restaurant in Utah. Amazing food, great service. Definitely a worthwhile stop in Boulder UT etween Bryce Canyon and Moab/Arches.
What a magical find this lodge was. After doing some research and knowing that I'd be passing through on Byway 12 and doing the Lower Calf Creek Falls hike, I decided to book a night because I knew I'd be tired. I pleasantly surprised by the graceful, rustic elegance this lodge offered. From check in, to check out, everything was stellar. The staff were nice, the grounds STUNNING (our upstairs king room overlooked the bird sanctuary - see attached photo) and the amount of stars you'll see at night breath taking. My only regret was not having a better camera to capture the night sky. I swear you can see the dust of the Milky Way. I highly recommend this lodge to stay and dinner at Hell's Backbone Grill is an ABSOLUTE MUST. Seriously it was one of the best gourmet home cooked meals - EVER. You will love this little gem in the middle of the most beautiful byway.
Great food! Stopped in around lunch as we saw it was a top rated place in the region. The food did not disappoint! One of us has breakfast, the other lunch, and both were excellent. Got to sit out on covered porch and enjoy the weather too. Great experience overall.
Rarely will a nights sleep allow you to awaken in red Rock candyland like this! The Hell's Backbone Grill deserves all of the exorbitant praise it has earned.
